Cause and Effect

Cause and effect
"Causality or causation denotes a directional relationship between one event (called cause) and another event (called effect) which is the consequence (result) of the first". Aristotle wrote, "All causes are beginnings... "... We have scientific knowledge when we know the cause... and "... to know a thing's nature is to know the reason why it is..." The essence of cause and effect is shown when objects impact and affect other objects in the work of Fischli and Weiss. There films containing objects in an order bouncing into to next to create movement. In same way the performances and films I have been making adopt the theory of cause and effect and mimic it in the way materials, objects and costume are being recycled into the next performance and built in complexity.
